Welcome
Ogazi
Peace Foundation is a not-for-profit, humanitarian
organization registered in the state of Maryland. It is also
tax-exempt under the IRS Section 501(c)(3).
Our Mission
Our Mission is to
advocate for the peaceful resolution of domestic conflicts
and prevent domestic abuse among African immigrants in the
United States. When there is domestic violence, every family
member suffers. Our goal is to provide crisis intervention
by counseling, and help in obtaining services for
individuals and families experiencing
family abuse, violence or other
crisis situations. For an immigrant victim, navigating the
social, medical or legal systems alone can be stigmatic,
traumatic and overwhelming.
Talking to an individual who shares and understands
their culture and tradition is very important to African
immigrants. From time to
time, we read about deaths resulting from domestic violence
involving Africans. We believe that the situation could be
prevented with intervention and right information.
Our Vision
Our vision is to
ensure that any woman who is a victim of domestic violence
gets into a safe and peaceful home without fear of further
violence but to have their dignity restored.
Our Beliefs and Values
-
We believe in respecting the dignity of all people,
regardless of national origin.
-
We respect diversity and promote the equality of all
people without distinction of any kind, such as sex,
race, color, age, language, religion, political or other
opinion, national or social origin, property, birth,
physical or mental disability, health status (including
HIV/AIDS), sexual orientation or civil, political,
social or other status
-
We believe in promoting peace, preventing and
eliminating human suffering, and violence
-
We
support community values that encourage respect for
others and a willingness to work together to find
solutions, in the spirit of compassion and mutual
support.
